Strategic Management Institute for Africa (SMIA) is duly registered and incorporated in Swaziland and United Kingdom Under the Business Registration Act for incorporated Companies . By virtue of the authority granted under the power of the act, we are legally and lawfully permitted to conduct capacity building programmes. Which is aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of personnel at all levels, both in the private, public and non-governmental sectors.

SMIA’s mission in this millennium is to be part of the premier training frontier for the delivery of customized and effective training methodologies that are guided by both National and International training policy standards.

In Power/Electricity Utilities field, our courses include: Energy management; Engineering, Planning & Management in the Electrical utility industry course (EPMEU); Transformers Today: Assets Management and Maintenance course; Electric Utility Management for Non-Engineers course (EUMNE).

SMIA’s MANAGEMENT
SMIA is an autonomous research and training institution, and operates under the control of the Board of Directors comprising representatives from Industry, Government and the Universities. The Director, who is the Chief Executive, heads it.

Plans are underway to introduce distance learning degrees and postgraduate qualifications with leading international universities and other institution of higher learning in the United Kingdom, Canada, and United States of America (USA).
Currently, Most of our past delegates running MBA programme overseas are been given Exemptions on some courses on the basis of transcript that SMIA provided on request to those institutions.

FOLLOW-UP OF PARTICIPANTS
SMIA maintains a database of all its participants (alumni). It is envisioned that the alumni will use the list –serve on our database and other mechanisms as a forum of sharing information and experiences in their respective fields. SMIA will from time to time approach alumni requesting them to complete questionnaires or write reports regarding the impact of their training with respect to their arrears of daily field of practice.

FLEXIBILITY IN COURSE DATES/SCHEDULE
SMIA entertains a lot of flexibility in its training efforts. We are sensitive to our clients timing constraints, and recognize that our scheduled programme dates may not always fit squarely into staff release for course attendance.

With this in mind our clients are allowed to fix suitable dates that will suit their circumstances. Our dedicated consultants clearly understand this, and are well prepared to re-tune their schedules to meet our client timings. This policy has afforded many people to become part of our alumni.

SMIA seeks to widen its products onto the global front by achieving a much broader participation from beyond the confines of Africa to include Asia, Europe, Latin American countries and the Oceania. The offshoot of this ambitious effort will be short from LONDON-United Kingdom and TORONTO  Canada within the next few months, to allow ample time for logistical planning in terms of resource allocation and budgeting setup formalities.
