The institute is duly registered and incorporated in United Kingdom (Wales) and Swaziland under the Business and Training Registration. This institute's activities in Africa are the control of the Board of Trustees.

By the virtue of the authority granted by the powers of the act, SMIA is legally and lawfully permitted to conduct capacity building programmes which aim at improving the knowledge and skill of personnel at all levels, both in public, private and non-governmental sectors.

SMIA's mission in this millennium is to be part of the training frontier for the delivery of customized and effective training that are guided by both national and international standards.
